The Western Arms, 337 Kensal Road, North Kensington – a former pub, closed c. 2013 then became a theatre and a restaurant. As at 2024 the single-story section had been demolished and the rest is derelict.
This is almost certainly the pub I saw a couple of times from a bus and was unable to place afterwards. Why it should be so important to me I don’t know. Especially as nearby – among 1960s housing – are two more, the former Earl of Warwick and the former Prince Arthur, which I managed to miss totally for some reason despite certainly having passed the Prince Arthur at some point (it was opposite the entrance to Trellick Tower), and probably the Earl of Warwick as well.

I’ve painted this in the past – this version of the picture is from 2017, I hope my art has improved since.
