Zell am See, acrylic

28 x 35 cm, acrylic on tissue paper over canvas. This picture is based on a photograph I took in 1977 while on a family holiday in Austria. My main memory of that holiday to this day is hearing that Elvis Presley had died – der Koenig ist tot – and also of the Canadian family we met while there (from the “Other London” i.e. Ontario), less unfortunately about Austria itself.

The original picture, scanned and balanced for colour – like most photos that have survived the last 50 years it had yellowed.

There is a large white hotel to the left of shot but somehow I managed to avoid getting that in the picture.
