The joy of art club is that we try different styles and media. In this case it was soft pastel, which I hadn’t tried before – though there are some in my artbox, but just a small number of ‘skin’ tones. It’s a very different beast to most painting as it is more like using chalk. You can’t mix them – hence the large number of colours available – but you can blend them.
The downside was the itchy eyes because of all the dust they throw up. My right eye was even itching the following morning. Some people get lung issues from it as well.
So although it was good to do, it wasn’t for me.
